Mary Ann McCracken

Welcome to McCrackens!

Neatly tucked away in historic Joy's Entry sits McCracken's Café Bar. The entry, which runs between High Street and Anne Street is named after Henry Joy McCracken an 18th century political reformer and United Irishman who, it is said, walked to the gallows from the Old Belfast Jailhouse.

Joy's Entry is one of Belfast's oldest entries and runs off High Street which was the first main thoroughfare in Belfast. It followed the route of the Farset River and ships travelled its length to the town centre up until it was covered in by the Town Corporation in the mid 19th Century.

McCracken's site was once a thriving brewery and it was said that sailors from all over the world would barter fresh oysters and mussels for a pint of ale.

But that is as far as the historical influences go. The bar itself is truly 21st century urban chic and caters for those who want a comfortable and relaxed meal or drink and a feeling that they can leave the hustle and bustle of Belfast city far behind when in fact they are only a stones-throw away from it all.

Under the able direction of Stephen Hughes the head chef at McCracken's the restaurant has, over the last couple of years, built up its repuation as an award winning gastro style pub and resturaunt.

The common denominator is good produce, cooked to perfection and trying to create the wow factor for you the customer, from lobster and oysters to the finest Irish beef and poultry. We pride ourselves on our ever changing daily menu depending on what is available from our local markets.

At the weekend, McCracken's transforms itself.

On Fridays, Mccrackens to unwind with the post work/ early evening "thank god its Friday' pick me up and listen to some of Belfasts finest talent at the Friday Live Session.

Following that is Belfast's only lounge night for the classics, Sweet Potato Club Nite from 9.30pm.

Saturday night is club night and McCracken's becomes a premium venue for R n' B, with CLUB ON, which has a sophisticated and devoted following.

On Thursday's you can set yourself up for the week ahead by chilling to smooth Blues with kevin bartlett and John Tracey from 8pm.

Following a major refurbishment McCracken's is transformed. Now a sophisticated and contemporary space, with every element of its style, food, drinks and service focussed on comfort, dining excellence and good old fashioned service. Combined with its well established and cutting edge club night McCracken's has it all.

A sophisticated and contemporary space reminiscent of a bygone era...

It ethos is summed up in its motto 'in touch with old values moving with the times'.

Have a look at what we have done to the place, Im sure you'll see a big change!
